18 Week Bump Update

18 weeks!

Mom is feeling...
I started having some heartburn yesterday. It could have been because of the cinnamon roll for breakfast, but it hurt all day! Water just made it worse. I guess this means the baby has hair? Yay for not having a bald baby! :)

Food cravings/aversions:
I craved chinese food for the first time...ever...this past week. I usually hate it! Austin always wants to go to PF Changs and I never want it, so he was pretty excited. We ordered Pei Wei on Valentines day for dinner and ate in. It was really fun. Other than that I've been wanting donuts everyday....cream filled chocolate cover ones ;).

Bump update:
I've been wearing maternity pants pretty much everyday because Lindsay gave me all of her old ones and they are WAY more comfortable than my pants. I have to unbutton them everyday after lunch so I just stopped wearing them. I definitely have a bump, but it's much bigger with my maternity pants on than sweat pants. I'll post a picture of my bare belly next week so I can show the difference.

Looking forward to...
SEEING THE BABY IN A FEW DAYS!!!!! We have an ultrasound on Monday the 23rd and we will find out the gender. I'm more excited to see the baby than to find out the gender,..although I cant wait for that either. I've been feeling some movement recently, but it doesn't happen that often. Usually just after sugary foods and before bed. Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll feel more.

17 Week Check-up

17 weeks 2 days!

Yesterday we had our 17 week appointment at the doctor's office. I left school after 4th period (I have 5th period conference) and ended up making it back for my next class! The doctor's office is 30-45 minutes away from my school. My appointment only lasted 15 minutes....it was amazing!

Every time I go I first have to grab a cup and go to the restroom.... ;). Then they call my name and a nurse takes me back to weigh me. I weighed in 5 lbs above my last appointment, but still 5 lbs under my starting weight. My last appointment was the day I had food poisoning, so I had lost 10 lbs. She was happy to see me gaining it back.

Then we went into the room where the nurse took my blood pressure (120/60) and used the doppler to hear the heartbeat! I always get SO nervous right before because I'm worried I won't hear anything, but it's the best sound when we hear it! It started off in the 130's but when she moved to a new place and was pressing down the baby must have started moving around because it went to the 150's where it stayed "regular." The nurse said it was a healthy heartbeat and sounded great!

My doctor then came in, and we talked about TCU for a bit because she is an alum as well. She then asked if I had questions and gave me the run-down for my next appointment- OUR SONOGRAM! It's in 8 days...yay!

I'm actually more excited about seeing the baby than finding out the gender. I could probably wait to find out until birth but I want to start making stuff and decorating the nursery.

16/17 Weeks Bump Update

Baby is the size of an onion!

Mom is feeling...
Good! I have been getting headaches pretty frequently, but that's been my only complaint. I read that it's normal weeks 16-18 to have headaches, so that was reassuring and kind of funny.

Food cravings/aversions:
I still crave pasta and not meat! I had my first burger in 4 months the other day and it was pretty good but I could only eat half. I have still been wanting fruit, mostly oranges, and sandwiches. I'm not supposed to have deli meat, but it's safe if you heat the meat to 160 degrees, so I've been doing that. I'm glad to have turkey again!

Bump update:
Well, today (17 weeks 3 days) I couldn't button my pants after lunch. I put them on this morning and thought there's just no way they will still be fitting by the end of the day. Sure enough, when I finished my lunch they were way too tight even though they would have buttoned, so I put on my belly band (which I had packed in my purse for good measure ;). It's funny how different my belly looks in regular pants and in maternity pants. In regular pants you can barely tell it's there, but in maternity pants it's definitely more round. My bare belly just looks like it's sticking out a little bit and is more squared.

Looking forward to...
My appointment tomorrow (just a checkup and to hear heartbeat!), and finding out the gender in 2 weeks!!!!

The best thing that happened this week is that I officially felt movement!!!!!!!!! We went on a cruise with my family, and Austin won some money. An hour after he won I felt some movement on the right side of my stomach that felt like someone lightly tapping from within. The few days prior I had felt some light popping and I didn't know if it was the beginning of movement, and this confirms it. Today as I sit at my desk I can feel movement all over, like extreme popping of popcorn. I'm pretty sure it's kicking! (unless it's something I ate ;)

On the cruise during our stop in Mexico!

We're babysitting Tanky this week!
