Abounding in the work of the Lord: 12 Week Bump Update

Baby is the size of a plum!

Mom is feeling...
Really good, other than Thursday! I got food poisoning 2 nights ago and it was pretty awful. It lasted until late last night. I tried to go to school yesterday and only lasted until lunch time. I went home and slept for a few hours (on and off with the vomiting) and went in for my doctors appointment. Unfortunately I got sick at the doctor, which was embarrassing :(. Other than that, the appointment was great! Austin went with me. Dr Deem listed to baby's heartbeat with the Doppler machine, and it was 143 bpm. Nice and strong! Austin recorded it on his phone. I had to get some blood drawn because I have lost some weight, but I'm hoping that's just from the food poisoning!

Food cravings/aversions:
Up until yesterday (when I couldn't eat anything), I was craving puffy cheetos and pizza! Recently I've just wanted breads and soups. Pregnancy cravings are no joke! To briefly describe the feeling, Austin will ask me what I feel like eating for dinner and I'll go through options in my head and they'll sound gross or awesome! ha. As far as aversions go, I get grossed out by burgers, fish, and really red meat in general. Lately I haven't really wanted chicken, either. I need to start getting protein from somewhere.

Bump update:
I'm starting to feel something! Sometimes it feels like just some bloating, but when I lay down in bed, I can see a little bump on my stomach.

Recent events and happenings:
Friday I told my classes that I'm pregnant. It was really fun! We played "guess that sound," and I played different sounds I found on youtube like a microwave, toaster, basketball bouncing, etc. and then played the heartbeat from my appointment. Each class had people yell out "a heartbeat!" and I said "who's?" and they said "a baby....YOUR BABY!?!? You're pregnant!!" A few girls said "oh my goodness, is your mom mad?" It was kind of funny but made me a little bit sad that that's what they know of getting pregnant...it happening accidentally and parents being upset.

This week we got to see a lot of my parents because they are moving into their house in Texas! It was fun to meet up with them and Lindsay and David (and the cutest baby in the world) each evening!
